
In a series of events that escalated to felony charges, two 19-year-old Chicago men and two 16-year-old juveniles have been charged with the armed robbery and battery of a 60-year-old man. The Chicago Police Department announced that Omareon Coleman, of the 6400 block of N. Rockwell St., and Samuel Gaines, from the 4400 block of N. Racine Ave., are facing one felony count each of robbery and two counts of aggravated battery, one count which took place in the 4400 block of N. Malden Ave. in public and another inflicted upon a person aged 60 or above.
Both suspects were detained along with two underage males, who have also been charged in the July 17, 2024 incident that took place around 9:00 p.m. and involved the theft of property at gunpoint. The 16-year-old males are each facing one felony count of armed robbery, while one of the juveniles is additionally charged with a misdemeanor for the possession of cannabis. The robbery transpired in the 4400 block of N. Malden, within the jurisdiction of the 19th District. The offenders were placed under arrest shortly after the incident and were to quickly face a detention hearing set at 2600 S. California on July 19, 2024, according to the Chicago Police Department's release.
