Early Thursday morning, a collision occurred involving a garbage truck and a vehicle in Chartiers Township, Washington County, sending four individuals to the hospital. According to WPXI, the accident was reported just before 5 a.m. on N. Main Street.
Washington County 911 disclosed that both drivers were taken to the hospital from the scene, with their conditions not immediately made public. When trying to reach the hospital, a medical helicopter was called but was unable to due to adverse weather conditions. The exact circumstances leading up to the incident are currently under investigation by the Chartiers Township police.
Alongside the vehicle operators, two firefighters sustained injuries in the course of their duties at the site of the crash. WPXI reported that one firefighter was transported to the hospital with an injured hand, while the other was treated on the scene, suffering from dehydration.
Additional details were confirmed by WTAE, stating that the crash took place on the 2400 block of North Main Street.
