The Orlando Police Department has reported the arrest of a fourth suspect linked to a shooting that injured a man and a young girl. The recent arrest by OPD's Fugitive Investigative Unit brought 23-year-old Jezer Alexander Gonzalez into custody, facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and armed robbery with a firearm, as reported by WFTV.
This latest arrest follows earlier apprehensions in the aftermath of the shootout that occurred on Oxalis Avenue, just after noon Saturday, where both a 45-year-old man and a four-year-old girl sustained gunshot wounds, officials say they are both expected to recover. According to a WESH report, Marvin Antonio Paguanda Sanchez was arrested at the scene, whereas Yasmi Lidieth Matamoros-Mendoza was captured in Louisiana by the U.S. Marshals after initially providing fake identification documents. Juan Carlos Lopez-Ruiz was the third person, taken into custody.
The incident that led to these arrests involved a dark SUV, and a light gray truck with four people pulled up to the scene before gunfire erupted. Police have since called the suspects dangerous individuals and have released a video showing moments before the attack. Additionally, as per WESH's report, authorities believe the suspects may have been involved in other robberies and are seeking help in identifying more suspects. Anybody with information that could assist detectives in this case has been urged to contact Crimeline.
The community's reaction is mixed with relief at the swift action by law enforcement, and ongoing concerns about public safety. With four arrests now made in this case, police are urging anyone who might have further insights or knowledge of the suspects’ involvement in prior incidents to step forward, and call Crimeline at 1-800-425-TIPS, or the OPD directly.
