The Roscommon County Sheriff's Office detailed that the crash involved two pontoon boats in the Long Point area, with CPR already underway for one victim when first responders arrived at the scene.
According to ABC12, the victim identified as 68-year-old David Dark from Freeland was in cardiac arrest by the time police and emergency medical technicians arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other individuals were transported to Munson Grayling Hospital with injuries of unspecified nature it remains unclear what caused the crash but a third boat might have played a role in obstructing the boat operators' views.
The incident occurred when a pontoon boat carrying four passengers was heading east and another, with twelve passengers, was traveling west at the time of the collision. The Sheriff's Office disclosed that there is an indication of a third vessel in close vicinity, which may have contributed to obstructing the operators' views ultimately leading to the crash, a factor that has become a point in the ongoing investigation.
