Slated to begin this summer, the state-of-the-art facility will be located adjacent to the Audubon Recreation Center at 342 W. Oates Road, replacing the former Surf & Swim establishment from 1984, which is set for demolition.
The Aquatics Facility promises a wealth of water-based delights including a winding lazy river and a leisure pool designed for tranquility, as reported by the City of Garland. Geared towards families, the development will also feature an aquatic playground, a children’s pool, and three brand-new waterslides. Bathed in ample shaded areas, the site intends to cater to more than just swimmers, with a party room for private events and a concession stand ready to serve up summer treats.
For those craving a dip before the grand unveiling, Garland still boasts accessible water-filled oases. According to the City of Garland, locals can make a splash at Wynne, Embree, and Watson parks, where splash pads are currently open. The Downtown Square also invites guests to enjoy its new water feature, ensuring the community doesn't have to go without aquatic respite in the interim.
