
Details emerge as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation delves into the tragic officer-involved shooting in Alto, Banks County which resulted in the deaths of two Georgia residents – Joshua Everett Emmett, 45, of Alto, and Meagan Victoria Feaster, 33, of Forsyth, as reported by the GBI. The incident unfolded early in the day and no officers were reported injured during the event.
The sequence of events, according to the GBI's account, began when deputies from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a Cedar Drive residence to serve an arrest warrant. The identity of the person involved is not yet clear. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Forsyth County deputies entered the house, where a confrontation led to the fatal shooting. Deputies from the Banks County Sheriff’s Office were also present to provide backup but were not directly involved in the altercation.
Officials have confirmed that an autopsy will be conducted by the GBI Medical Examiner to establish the precise causes of death for Emmett and Feaster. While the ongoing investigation proceeds, the focus remains on piecing together the moments that escalated to the use of lethal force.
The GBI has pledged a thorough and independent review of the case to determine the full scope of the circumstances leading to this irreversible outcome, after which the findings will be dispatched to the Banks County District Attorney's Office for further examination and decision-making.
