The City of Germantown is not playing around when it comes to their future. On Monday, a pivotal meeting dubbed as the "Vision Session" will have the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) diving into discussions that could chart the course for the city's progress. The official announcement of The City of Germantown states that these biannual sessions are a critical part of the strategic planning, set to foster the reinforcement and growth of the Germantown Forward 2035 plan.

This isn't the first rodeo for these sessions; they've been happening for about four years and have already set some pretty significant changes into motion. A revamped City Tree Mitigation Plan and the Germantown Alert system, which keeps residents in the loop with emergency notifications, can be traced back these strategy meetings. According to the official news release, Alderman Sherrie Hicks and Vice Mayor Mary Anne Gibson were key players in initiating these improvements.

In expanding community engagements, a new Resident Engagement Coordinator position now connects neighborhood leaders with the city's brain trust. The position is currently held by Erinn Figg, who's taken on the mantle of strengthening communication channels, as per details mentioned on the Germantown official site. Additionally, Germantown isn't hesitating to spruce things up for the holidays, a move put into action by Alderman Scott Sanders, with the objective of hiring a professional to raise the bar on festive aesthetics around the city.

Other improvements initiated from past sessions include giving the roads a new lease of life—something the Mayor Palazzolo and Alderman Scott Sanders pushed for—paving up to 13 miles of roadway this year. As rain events continue to intensify, Alderman Brian Ueleke has campaigned for better informing the residents regarding stormwater projects, which has led to a boost in the sharing of information about capital projects related to the city's stormwater infrastructure.
