In a joint effort aiming to provide legal assistance and community support, Goodwill North Central Texas and the Denton Municipal Court have teamed up to host an event that seeks to help individuals with criminal records start anew. Scheduled for July 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Expunction and Court in the Community event will take place at 2030 W. University Dr., Denton, TX, offering much-needed services to the first 100 attendees at no cost, according to the City of Denton, Texas.
At the Expunction Clinic, a variety of services are to be provided, including criminal record checks and an assessment to determine eligibility for expunction. Participating individuals will also have the opportunity to receive help generating the necessary legal documents and have them directly filed with the court, which aims to quickly remove records from hundreds of databases.
The Denton Municipal Court's contribution, the Safe Harbor initiative, guarantees that residents can address outstanding warrants without having to fear immediate arrest. Those looking for payment options should bring relevant documentation for services such as time-served credits, proof of indigence for community service, and time payment plans. Participants need to remember to bring two forms of identification to the event.
Information regarding the event was released by Goodwill North Central Texas. Questions can be directed to Leslie Faulkner at [email protected]. More details about the event can be found in the City of Denton, Texas.
