
A suspect linked to a fatal shooting in June 2022, that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy in northwest Austin, has been sentenced to a 45-year prison term. Xelso Mora-Vasquez, who pleaded guilty to a murder charge, will spend his sentence in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility, with a credit for the 733 days he has already served, according to KXAN.
The incident occurred on June 12, 2022, in the 12600 block of Oro Valley Trail, and involved a verbal altercation amongst a group that escalated to gunfire. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office reported that upon arrival to the scene, a vehicle had crashed with three individuals inside sustaining gunshot wounds and the driver, 16-year-old Adrian Murillo Curiel of Cedar Park, was pronounced dead, as the event was detailed by KVUE.
Further investigations by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office led to the arrest of two additional suspects in the case. Stephen Sanchez was apprehended at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds while Devin Vasquez-Pachehco was taken into custody in Hays County without incident. Both suspects faced murder charges and were transported to the Williamson County Jail.
The criminal investigation spearheaded by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and the Austin Police Department remains underway. All three suspects implicated have now been apprehended following the deadly confrontation, in which, multiple shots were fired before the suspects fled the scene.
