Chaos erupted at Noble Sports Park on July 26th when what started as a large gathering quickly devolved into a scene of gunfire amidst the 400 people present. According to a report filed in the aftermath of the disturbance, officers responded to reports of unrest at approximately 9:20 pm, only to find themselves amidst shots ringing out into the night.
As law enforcement arrived, their presence seemed to barely dissuade the violence as they attempted to barely make their way through the scattering crowd. Amidst the fleeing masses, officers discovered a scattering of shell casings and numerous vehicles marred by bullets. While the physical injuries reported were minor, the psychological toll of such a brazen attack on a public gathering has yet to be fully comprehended.
In the ensuing effort to control and clear the park, several surrounding police agencies were called to assist. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and law enforcement is asking for anyone with information to come forward.
Despite the scale of the incident, no officers were injured during the response.
