The Gwinnett County Police Foundation has once again underscored its commitment to education and community support by awarding college scholarships to six students, all of whom are children of active-duty Gwinnett County Police Department personnel. This gesture, which took place on July 18 during the Foundation's third quarter meeting, falls neatly in line with the organization's ongoing efforts to foster a culture of academic pursuit and leadership among the younger generation closely tied to law enforcement families.
In line with this, the Gwinnett County Police Department announcement detailed the 2024 Memorial Scholarships, which include the Officer Jerry Everett Memorial Scholarship, Officer Ralph Davis Memorial Scholarship, Officer Jesse Gravitt Memorial Scholarship, Officer Chris Magill Memorial Scholarship, Officer Antwan Toney Memorial Scholarship, and the Major Stewart Bozemen Educational Scholarship. Each name represents a beacon of remembrance and to swiftly honor, the lives of those who served with valor and ultimate sacrifice.
The same event also witnessed the outpouring of community support, as the First American Bank and Trust contributed a generous donation to the Gwinnett County Police Foundation. It was stated that their financial backing is earmarked to assist not only officers and their K-9 counterparts in times of crisis but also the wide array Department employees facing unforeseen adversity. Moreover, the funds are designed to further outreach initiatives, such as the Citizens Police Academy and the Youth Explorers Program, which serve to strengthen the bonds between law enforcement and the communities they protect.
An element of gracious thanks was directed toward the “Law Enforcement Strategic Support Act” of Georgia, a legislation that recognizes the act of supporting Local public safety efforts as not only noble but fiscally prudent. It allows for residents of Georgia to claim tax credit when they choose to contribute to qualified law enforcement foundations. This synergy between community support and government policy works to continually reinforce the fabric of public safety throughout the state.
As a non-profit entity, the Gwinnett County Police Foundation carries the weight of responsibility, so clearly mirrored in its 501(c)(3) status under the recognition of the Federal Department of Treasury.
