San Diego residents should prepare for another hot day ahead. The National Weather Service reports that inland areas will experience temperatures 5-8 degrees above average this Monday. If you want to cool off, heading to the coast might be your best option as the heat wave persists.

In addition to the high temperatures, monsoonal moisture is in the region, bringing chances of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoons through Wednesday. By Thursday, these storms are expected to become less frequent. Despite this, the Marine layer remains shallow, offering little relief from the heat affecting the inland areas.

Looking forward, the National Weather Service San Diego forecasts a slight relief. The upper ridge causing the high temperatures is expected to weaken, and a weak trough along the West Coast should bring slightly cooler and drier conditions. This is a welcome change after the challenging weather this week. The marine layer may deepen further, extending into the western valleys by the end of the week.

Hazardous marine conditions are not expected through Friday for those planning activities on the water. Storm chasers and sky watchers are encouraged to report any significant weather events, although Skywarn activation is not necessary now.
