A fatal crash in San Jose has claimed the life of an adult male passenger and injured a woman when a vehicle, reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and collided with the second story of a home. According to a statement from the San Jose Police Department, the accident occurred in the early hours last Saturday on McKee Road and Francis Drive, marking the city's 23rd traffic-related fatality of the year.

The 2022 red Subaru sedan, with the driver and her male companion, was westbound when the driver veered over the center median, across the opposite lanes, and ultimately into a residential structure after breaching a fence. Although the crash led to a hurried evacuation of the residence, none of its occupants were injured during the incident.

Emergency responders transported the adult female driver to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the male passenger did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the crash, the driver, whose name has not been released pending a formal identification by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office, was arrested on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The San Jose Police Department is actively seeking information from witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the collision. In addition, the public can submit tips anonymously via the P3TIPS mobile app or by contacting the tip line at (408) 947-STOP.
