A somber cloud hangs over Stanford University's campus following the unfortunate death of an infant in one of its apartments. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office reported that first responders attempted resuscitation on a 5-month-old baby after being alerted to the incident at an apartment on Barnes Court on Monday morning.
The official statement released by the Sheriff’s Office reveals that the Stanford Department of Public Safety notified them at approximately 11:30 a.m. about the infant not breathing. CPR was immediately administered upon arrival. However, despite these efforts, the child was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead at around 12:30 in the afternoon.
Multiple agencies, including deputies, crime scene investigators, representatives from the Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner, and the Office of the District Attorney, were dispatched to the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Although details remain scarce, early findings suggest that the death was accidental. Further inquiries are ongoing, and authorities have yet to release additional information regarding the case.
