A Hillsborough County woman has been detained following a reported riot outside Brandon's Astro Skate, an incident that dates back to May of this year. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office disclosed that they responded to a distress call on May 18 at around 9:20 p.m., where they encountered a gathering of approximately 500 people and multiple violent altercations unfolding. The situation escalated to such a point that it needed nearly six hours for deputies to successfully regain control, as detailed in a Hillsborough County Sheriff's statement.
The authorities have since arrested Stephanie Pedroso, aged 36, accusing her of inciting the violence witnessed that night. In an unsettling turn of events that the community is struggling to fully comprehend, Pedroso's husband, James Knight II, was also detained, albeit on an unrelated charge. It is reported that Knight was charged with driving with a suspended, canceled, or revoked license his third such offense. Her provocative message went beyond incendiary suggestion as she appeared to crucially offer compensation for those willing to engage in the destructive call to action.
The fallout from the May 18 incident was substantial, with one injury reported and a toll taken on five local businesses. In total, 23 juveniles and three adults were put into custody for their role in the tumult.
