A woman has been fatally shot in South Sacramento, sparking a homicide investigation by local authorities, according to multiple reports. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene near an apartment complex on 66th Avenue and E. Southgate Drive around 9:40 a.m. earlier morning, after receiving reports of gunfire, as CBS Sacramento indicated.
The deceased, identified as a woman believed to be in her 30s, was found with fatal injuries while further details regarding the circumstances of her death are yet to be disclosed investigators have started piecing together the sequence of events that led to the violent incident, with no suspect information currently available. Not far from the site, a separate but linked incident reported a woman in her 60s had been killed at the intersection of 66th Avenue and 57th St., as confirmed by FOX40.
Contradictory reports about the age of the victim suggest some confusion in the early stages of the investigation, a detail that officials are expected to clarify as their work progresses. Meanwhile, Sacramento Sheriff shared a post from X confirming the homicide at 5710 66th Avenue and stating that "Homicide Detectives are en route."
