Local authorities are urgently calling on the community to step forward with any information regarding a fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed a life earlier this week. According to the official Precinct 4 Facebook page, the incident took place on July 23, 2024, around 10:05 A.M. on the 16300 block of the Northwest Freeway. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Accident Investigation Division arrived on the scene to discover the aftermath of a three-car collision.
Investigations carried out could not help but determine that the initiating incident involved a large box truck or cargo van that failed to adequately halt its momentum, subsequently colliding with the rear of a vehicle in front of it. This crash, unfortunately, resulted in the death of the other driver. Witnesses reported that three Hispanic male occupants emerged from the truck or van, assessed the damage briefly and then fled the vicinity without leaving behind any identifying details or waiting for law enforcement to appear.
The sheriff's office is now seeking assistance to locate the individuals responsible for the crash. The suspect's vehicle is described as a large 20 to 24-foot box truck or cargo van, last seen on the eastbound lane of the Northwest Freeway approaching the Sam Houston Toll Road off-ramps.
In a statement obtained by the Facebook post from the precinct, Constable Mark Herman implored the community, saying, "If anyone has information on the wanted suspect vehicle, driver, or any dash camera video that might show the collision, please contact our office or your local law enforcement." The public's help is instrumental as officials strive to find and hold accountable those involved in this tragic event. The Constable's office has not yet released a description of the suspects beyond their observed ethnicity and number.
