In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, grocery chains Kroger and H-E-B are offering financial relief to Texans affected by the storm. Kroger has initiated a coupon scheme to aid customers in the Greater Houston area with restocking supplies. According to FOX 26 Houston, the grocery store is providing a digital coupon that allows for $10 off a purchase of $100 or more. This discount is available to the purchasers who are able to load it to their Kroger Plus Card using the company's app or website.

Struggling with the challenges of replenishment following prolonged power outages, many Houstonians are expected to benefit from this program. The digital coupon will be excluding alcohol, tobacco, and gift cards but is applicable to both perishable and non-perishable items. Customers have until July 23 to redeem this offer, which they can use for in-store, pickup, or delivery orders as per the information provided by Click2Houston.

Complementing Kroger's effort, H-E-B has announced a discount of 10% on all frozen food items at its Houston and surrounding area stores, including locations in the Golden Triangle, East Texas, Bryan/College Station/Brenham, and additional spots along the Gulf Coast. Designed to be applied automatically at checkout, this deal requires no additional action from shoppers and will run from July 14 through July 21. “At H-E-B, we’re committed to supporting our communities in times of need. Texans across the Houston area and the Gulf Coast were hardest hit by the storm and have been without power for several days,” said Armando Perez, H-E-B Executive Vice President of Houston Food Drug, as he explained the company's motivation for the discount to Click2Houston.

With more than 90% of CenterPoint Energy customers having their power restored, the need to restock is critical for a return to normalcy, although alcohol, tobacco, and gift cards will be left out from this restocking discount. Texans looking to take advantage of these offers can do so by visiting their local participating grocery stores or utilizing the respective grocery chains' websites and applications.
