
A fatal collision on Houston's North Freeway has prompted an investigation by local authorities. The crash, which claimed the life of a 51-year-old man, occurred yesterday evening, around 11:30 p.m., near the 11300 block of the North Freeway. As reported by the City of Houston News, the man's identity is yet to be released, pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The incident unfolded when a pedestrian, who was walking on the main lanes of the freeway, was hit by a southbound white Dodge Ram pickup truck. Sergeant D. Rose and Officer L. Fenoglio of the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division were able to quickly respond to the event. According to details provided by Houston Police, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 42-year-old male, along with two passengers, remained on the scene following the crash. Police have determined that the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident and after being questioned, he was released. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries from the incident.
