Authorities have taken a man into custody after an incident that could have escalated into a dangerous confrontation with law enforcement. Yesterday afternoon, during a routine solicitor check on the bustling corner of the North Freeway and Richey Road, a male approached deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office in what was described as an aggressive manner, according to the precinct's official Facebook page.
The altercation quickly unfolded as the deputies attempted to detain the man, during which, he made a bold and ill-advised attempt to seize control of a deputy's service weapon, fortunately, the situation was swiftly contained, and the individual, identified as Joseph Ellington, was safely apprehended further investigations into Ellington's background uncovered that he was already out on bond for previous offenses including Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest, and Evading.
In a statement released by Constable Mark Herman's Office, "Joseph Ellington was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Attempting to Disarm a Peace Officer. His bond and court information have not been set at this time." As of now, Ellison's legal representation has not made any public statements concerning the charges or the circumstances of his arrest.
