A harrowing episode unfolded in Chambers County over the weekend as authorities apprehended a Houston man following a fatal shooting at a local convenience store. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, claimed the life of store clerk Ginny Bagby who was working at the TimeMax store situated along East IH-10 Frontage Road, as reported by FOX 26 Houston
According to the ABC13 coverage, deputies received a distress call about an aggravated robbery in progress and upon reaching the scene found Bagby injured, thereafter performed CPR but despite efforts to save her, she was later pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital, the suspect Todd Carter, 34, was located shortly after in a vehicle fitting witness descriptions, following which a brief chase ensued before law enforcement managed to detain him.
Capital murder charges are now facing Carter who remains in custody at the Chambers County Jail without the possibility of bond. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office, spearheaded by Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, is actively investigating whether the suspect is connected to other criminal activities and is collaborating with various agencies in this pursuit.
The community has been shaken by this violent act, with Sheriff Hawthorne offering his deepest condolences to Bagby's family and acknowledging the role of the public's vigilance in a statement obtained by FOX 26 Houston, "We are deeply sorry for the loss of the victim and appreciate the community's help in capturing this suspect," while the probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event is ongoing and officials are urging anyone with more information to come forward.
