The Houston Police Department reported the arrest of the suspect, Husamiddin Muhammad, 46, who now faces charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm, as filed in the 263rd State District Court.

According to the official press release by the City of Houston, the shooting occurred around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday. The victim, a 30-year-old man, was seriously injured and required hospitalization. It was reported that an argument between the victim and the suspect escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the victim was shot.

Responding to a call, HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene at 5650 Antoine Drive. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. A possible suspect was initially detained at the scene of the crime. Further investigations led by HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives S. Elias and T. Youll identified Muhammad as the perpetrator in the incident. After the Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, charges were subsequently brought against Muhammad, and he was booked into the Harris County Jail.

The Houston Police Department has provided a booking photo of Muhammad alongside the news release. The current condition of the victim has not been updated since his admittance to the hospital in serious condition.
