
Houston police have charged a suspect in connection with the April fatal shooting of a woman at 11900 7th Street. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Jose Santiago Villatoro, faces a murder charge and is currently at large, with authorities considering the possibility he may have fled to Mexico.
Around 1:15 p.m. on April 21, Houston Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find the victim, Rosenda Garcia Hernandez, aged 52, shot multiple times and unresponsive in her vehicle, the City of Houston news release reported, Houston Fire Department paramedics later pronounced her dead, sparking a homicide investigation conducted by HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Vinogradov and D. Crowder.
Evidence collected and witness statements led to identifying Villatoro as the shooter; he reportedly approached the victim's car on foot, discharged several rounds into it, and subsequently fled the area in a white Jeep Renegade SUV with black wheels heading toward the 4200 block of Cook Road after the incident, according to the same news release.
Law enforcement officials have disseminated a photograph of Villatoro calling for the public's help to locate him, urging anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts or the case to reach out to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or to provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
