Houston authorities are currently piecing together the circumstances surrounding the death of a 33-year-old man, whose body was discovered yesterday at a parking lot on 8901 Veterans Memorial Drive. As reported City of Houston News, the deceased man, whose identity has yet to be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, appeared to have suffered severe trauma.
Officers from the Houston Police Department were called to the scene at around 4:45 a.m. following a report of a person down. Upon arrival, they found the unresponsive male. Detectives A. Vinogradov and D. Crowder of the HPD Homicide Division are investigating what seems to have escalated into a fatal confrontation. The detectives are working to definitely determine if the victim and an as-of-yet unknown suspect engaged in a dispute that led to the man being intentionally struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of an abandoned business.
Efforts by the Houston Fire Department paramedics to assist the victim were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. A surveillance photo capturing a 2003 gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck has been released in connection with the case. This vehicle, bearing Texas license plates TDY9548, is believed to be involved in the incident according to the official report.
Currently, the suspect is defined only as a Hispanic male in his 50s, last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue shorts. The Houston police urge anyone with information about the vehicle or the suspect's identity to promptly reach out.
