Early this morning, Houston became the scene of an investigation following a lethal shooting incident. According to City of Houston News, a 31-year-old man was found dead at around 1:30 a.m. outside a business on Richmond Avenue. While his name has not been released, authorities are awaiting confirmation from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division's Sergeant K. Meek and Detective G. Zavala arrived on the scene after a call alerted them to the incident. There, in the business's parking lot, they found a man rendered unresponsive, who'd suffered from a gunshot wound. Despite the paramedics' swift response to call and their pronounced victim deceased on-spot.
Witnesses at the scene described an unsettling turn of events, alleging that an unknown black male suspect, stationed within a vehicle, suddenly began firing shots towards the victim. Following the shooting, the suspect allegedly exited his vehicle and escaped on foot.
The motives behind this violent act remain clouded in mystery. Investigators are calling on the community for help, encouraging anyone with knowledge of the shooting or the suspect to step forward. Houston Police Department prompts them to contact the HPD Homicide Division or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
