
A shooting in West Houston yesterday morning has led to a significant police response, including the bomb squad, after claims of an explosive device in the area. According to FOX 26 Houston, Houston Police Department officers arrived at the 5600 block of Antoine Avenue around 11:50 AM following reports of gunfire. A man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was subsequently rushed to a local trauma center in critical condition.
Police detained a second man at the scene, who was unharmed in the gunfire exchange. After he was taken into custody, he alerted the officers to a supposed explosive device inside his vehicle. Running the aftermath of the altercation, the Bomb Squad was called to secure and remove any potential threats. During the search of the vehicle, the bomb squad cleared the explosive device which in fact proved to be nonexistent.
Alongside the claims of the explosive, authorities collected evidence from the chaotic scene, including a machete and a shotgun. These items were reported by CW39 as being found at the crime scene and are now in police custody for investigation purposes. The identity of the individuals involved has not been released, and the HPD is continuing its investigation into the circumstances that led to this violent event.
