Houston authorities are spearheading a public appeal for assistance in the wake of a fatal shooting that took place last month. Houston Police Department (HPD) is keen to locate two individuals for questioning, identified as 29-year-old Terryl Shawn Richard and 26-year-old Trishia Perrault. According to a news release by the City of Houston, the pair are sought in connection with the June 25 homicide of Derrick Dewayne Smith, aged 31, who was found shot at 4760 Sherwood Lane around 9:45 p.m.

Following the dispatch of patrol officers to a reported shooting at a local motel, Smith was discovered unresponsive with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Despite immediate medical assistance by officers and subsequent intervention by Houston Fire Department paramedics, Smith succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital. The ongoing investigation has since rendered Richard and Perrault as two persons of interest who may have valuable information pertaining to the case.

Pictures of Richard and Perrault have been released to the public and are appended to the official press release, though it's emphasized that neither has been charged at this time. Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen from HPD’s Homicide Division are leading the inquiry. They are urging anyone with knowledge about the whereabouts of these two individuals, or who has any other information that could be relevant to the case, to come forward.
