Following a shooting incident on Walker Street earlier this week, Houston Police have made an arrest. Jesus Ventura Lopez, 17, stands accused of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon relating to the shooting, which left a 57-year-old man critically injured. The event occurred on Sunday morning, and Lopez's alleged involvement has led to his arrest this past Tuesday, according to a news release accessible via City of Houston News.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found wounded outside his residence at around 9:10 a.m. and was subsequently transported to an area hospital by the Houston Fire Department paramedics. Initial reports from HPD patrol officers pointed to an unknown assailant who had fled in a vehicle of non-specified make and model. A second suspect in the case remains unidentified and at large as the investigation continues.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective Z. Brumley was cited in the release, revealing that the preliminary investigation quickly zeroed in on Lopez as the prime suspect. Successful collaboration between the detectives and the patrol officers led to the swift apprehension of Lopez, who is currently detained at the Harris County Jail.
The authorities continue to appeal to the public for assistance in tracking down the second suspect whose identity remains elusive.
