
Two suspects are now in custody in Howard County following a police chase that led to the recovery of 31 stolen airbags, authorities said. The action took place in the early hours of Tuesday, with the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) responding to reports of multiple airbag thefts in the Columbia area, as detailed by Fox Baltimore. An observant officer spotted the suspects fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle, resulting in a subsequent arrest after, a chase that ensued.
Upon apprehending the suspects between 2:30 and 2:45 a.m., police found the stolen airbags inside the vehicle, as reported by DC News Now. Along with the airbags, the vehicle itself was reported stolen, and body-cam footage released by the HCPD documented the recovery of the stolen items and the capture of the suspects.
The quick response of HCPD officers not only led to the recovery of stolen property but also took two alleged criminals off the streets. HCPD shared news of the successful operation on X, where they commended their officers for their swift action in the face of ongoing incidents of airbag thefts, which have troubled the area.
