Last Monday, an alleged armed robbery at the Hampton Inn Suites in Brighton triggered an urgent response from the local police. At around 1:20 a.m., Brighton police were informed of the robbery by a hotel employee, as mentioned in a report by WWJ Newsradio. The suspect, identified as Joshua Lee Bargovan, is accused of entering and briefly visiting the hotel's bathroom, then exiting just to return armed and with his identity concealed by a mask, according to authorities.
During the ordeal, Bargovan allegedly approached the hotel's front desk, "opened the cash drawer, removed the money from inside then left", as detailed by officials to The Detroit News. The hotel employee caught at the desk during the robbery emerged unharmed. Despite the rapid police response and the efforts of the Brighton Police Department's Crime Scene Response Team, Bargovan avoided immediate apprehension after carrying out the alleged robbery.
Subsequent police investigations culminated in the arrest of Bargovan, who was later arraigned on an armed robbery charge. The 22-year-old Howell man's bond was set at $200,000, as ClickOnDetroit reported. Bargovan currently remains at the Livingston County Jail, with a probable cause conference set for July 30. No attorney for Bargovan was listed in the court records at the time this information was made public.
