TxDOT Beaumont disclosed on X that contractors worked through the preceding day to execute the needed emergency repairs, traffic was rerouted, and drivers experienced extended travel times as a result the freeway was inaccessible for nearly 24 hours, forcing drivers to find alternative routes or expect delays and during the closure, commuters were advised to take other roads with the mainlanes at Washington Boulevard being closed off. In a follow-up, Click2Houston reported that all traffic at Washington Boulevard was directed north or south along the service road, with options to rejoin I-10 westbound before Walden Road or continue onto Cardinal Drive.
