To relieve families as the new school year inches closer and the ongoing recovery from Beryl persists, IDEA Public Schools has teamed up with iHeart Media and is not only offering a compassionate hand with free meals to kids in need but also hosting backpack giveaways filled with school supplies.

This Sunday, at IDEA Pflugerville Academy and College Preparatory, families came together as the community benefitted from the first of the two back-to-school backpack giveaways; the upcoming event is scheduled to take place at IDEA Bluff Springs Academy and College Preparatory on July 27, according to CBS Austin. Tina Sims, iHeart Media account executive, expressed the motive behind the generosity stating, "We just want to make everybody’s lives easier, and school is hard enough without worrying about, you know, how they’re gonna afford the backpacks, and lunches and all that, so if we can help out just a little bit, we love to." The first 150 school-aged children at each event were promised a backpack, and more than 200 children showed up on Sunday.

Amidst the aftermath of Beryl, IDEA Public Schools' dedication to community support extends to free meal services for affected children. As per CW 39 Houston, with cafeteria manager Ms. Boyd elaborating on the Healthy Kids Here program, "Our mission is to be impactful with the entire community. It is not just encompassing the aftermath of storm Beryl. This is a regular standard for I can as we do, community feeding each and every year." Since the beginning of the summer, over 2000 scholars have been served.
