A Kissimmee man has been sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison for his attempt to entice a minor into sexual activities, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Damien Jesse Suhr, aged 41, was convicted by a federal jury on March 28, 2024, and received his sentence from U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron on July 3rd.
The case unfolded after the FBI, in conjunction with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, initiated an undercover operation involving an online dating application. A profile masquerading as an adult named "Jack" but featuring the photo of a 14-year-old boy attracted Suhr’s attentions. "Jack" clearly communicated to Suhr that he was just 14 years old, but the interactions escalated over the period of two weeks, with Suhr discussing sexual acts he wished to engage in with the "child." Suhr also urged the "child" to delete text messages to avoid leaving traces for his mother or authorities.
On June 9, 2023, Suhr went to a prearranged meeting spot at a local gas station, expecting to meet the boy. Instead, he was met by law enforcement officers and taken into custody. Trial evidence indicated that Suhr had previously expressed an interest in minors and sought sexual encounters with children as young as 12. This information was presented as part of the case built against him.
The concerted efforts by a federal team led to the successful apprehension and conviction of Suhr. The investigation was spearheaded by the FBI, and the prosecution was managed by Assistant United States Attorneys Kaley Austin-Aronson and Dana Hill. The sentence aims to serve as a deterrent to similar crimes and protect minors from such predatory acts. Suhr now faces more than a decade behind bars, a measure of justice for a his actions that attempted to undermine the innocence of youth.
