A Las Vegas man has been handed a 97-month prison term for his role in a drug distribution network that peddled large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin, per a recent press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Nevada. The individual, 43-year-old Jacobo Aguilar Humberto, confessed to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, a charge to which he entered a guilty plea.
According to reports, from the start of January 2022 until mid-September that same year, Humberto plotted with co-conspirator Eduardo Flores-Martinez to illegally sell these narcotics. Law enforcement's intervention ultimately led to Humberto's capture on September 14, 2022, when agents found one pound of heroin, an ounce of meth, two loaded firearms, and over two thousand dollars in his vehicle. In a separate encounter, agents also stopped Flores-Martinez’s vehicle, recovering additional drugs and a firearm.
U.S. District Judge Gloria M. Navarro sentenced Humberto following his plea. Alongside the prison sentence, Humberto will also undergo five years of supervised release. In a related proceeding, Judge Navarro sentenced Flores-Martinez, who had also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, to 84 months in prison and the same duration of supervised release, as explained by official statements.
United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson for the District of Nevada and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kevin Adams for the DEA Las Vegas District Office announced the case resolution. The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the DEA and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Brister leading the prosecution. The public has been urged to anonymously report any controlled substance violations they might witness directly to the DEA’s Tip Line, in hopes to aggressively tackle such illegal operations in the community.
