
A fatal shooting in the southeast valley of Las Vegas last night has left one man dead and the suspect, the boyfriend of the victim's ex-girlfriend, on the run. The incident occurred at a residence situated in the 4300 block of Boulder Highway, close to Desert Inn Road, and was first reported at approximately 7 p.m. According to KTNV, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived to find a woman outside the apartment who informed them that her ex-boyfriend had suffered a gunshot wound inside.
Our sources indicated that the shooting was the result of a dispute that quickly escalated. The two men involved were said to have had an altercation, the nature of which soon turned physical. The suspect, who has not yet been apprehended, reportedly produced a firearm during the confrontation and shot the victim. In a statement obtained by News3LV, the LVMPD mentioned that after the shooting, the suspect proceeded to quickly leave the scene in a vehicle.
The victim, a man in his 30s, received medical treatment at the scene and was later taken to Sunrise Hospital for his injuries. Tragically, his life could not be preserved; he succumbed to his injuries at the medical facility. LVMPD's Homicide Section has been engaged to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Lt. Jason Johansson, with the LVMPD's Homicide Section, elaborated on the relationship between the victim and his ex-girlfriend, detailing to KTNV that the ex-boyfriend typically visited the apartment to watch their shared child.
The police assure that despite the ongoing search for the suspect, traffic in the Boulder Highway area is not anticipated to be affected. A description of the vehicle involved in the suspect's escape was being worked on to be confirmed by investigators. The child, who was present during the incident, was stated to be unharmed and is currently with his mother. Additional information about prior altercations between the two men involved in the incident has also been requested by the police from the public.
