The U.S. Marshals Service's Nevada Violent Offenders Task Force has recently completed a ten-day sweep in Las Vegas, dubbed "Operation Washout," leading to the arrest of 38 individuals and the recovery of one missing child. This multi-agency push targeted what the Task Force describes as some of the area's most violent offenders and fugitives, according to KTNV.
The string of arrests, conducted with collaboration between various agencies, saw individuals taken into custody on charges ranging from homicide and aggravated assault to drug and firearm offenses. Notable arrests during the operation include Rocky Floyd Arbaugh and Anthony Ayala, both snagged in Vegas for offenses including parole violations for murder and sexual assault, respectively. This broad operation was announced to have commenced on July 10 and featured multiple federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.
Among the agencies to lend their support and resources were the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boulder City Police Department, and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, among others. One of the significant aspects of the crackdown was the successful location of a missing child, adding a poignant note of relief amidst the arrests for serious crimes. U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield was quoted by 8NewsNow acknowledging the importance of interdepartmental cooperation: "This operation wouldn't be possible without the unwavering support of our partner law enforcement agencies. Their dedication and teamwork help make our communities safer and stronger for everyone."
Law enforcement officials involved in "Operation Washout" are urging the public to actively participate in sustaining the safety of the community by reporting any information related to wanted fugitives.
