The City of Lawrenceville has unveiled its event lineup for the remainder of 2024, and it’s chock-full of community gatherings ranging from movie nights to concerts and cultural festivals. With over 15 events scheduled from July to December, the city aims to deliver a rich tapestry of experiences for residents of all ages and interests. According to the city's announcement, the festivities will feature a mixture of time-honored traditions and fresh offerings that promise to entertain, engage, and inspire the public.
Kicking things off on July 3 is the Prelude to the Fourth, a beloved local event, where families can enjoy live musical performances by artists such as Alto Moon, The Phoebes Band, and Ryan Perry, before a fireworks show lights up the night sky at 9:30 pm. "Lawrenceville is all about community, and our 2024 events calendar reflects that commitment," Jasmine Billings, Community & Economic Development Director, told the City of Lawrenceville. With the ongoing Beats on the Streets events every Thursday, affecting those who want to dance the night away or simply unwind to some DJ spins, there’s clear intent to pepper the summertime with lively occasions.
New additions to the calendar include the Evening of the Arts on July 27, where spectators can indulge in live performances, art markets, and workshops spotlighting local talent. For film enthusiasts, the Lawrenceville Movie Club will be showcasing "Harriet the Spy" on July 17 and "Zootopia" on August 9, both at the Lawrenceville Lawn. That convergence of dates also marks the National Night Out, featuring a touch-a-truck event and an array of food trucks to cater to the community's diverse palates.
For those with a soft spot for pets, August 9 doubles as the grand opening for HYRO Park, the city’s stylish new urban dog park, and for motor enthusiasts, the Cops and Cones Motor Skills Course on October 5 at the Gwinnett County Fair Grounds is not to be missed. Fall will welcome the third annual CULTURA: Fiesta Latina on September 27, which celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month with an authentic array of vendors, dancing, music, and an echo of cultural pride. The fully-packed year will wrap up with the Holiday Happenings in December, promising to spread cheer and, community spirit in the wintery weeks leading up to the new year.
Residents and visitors can enjoy free parking at designated decks in the Downtown area and are encouraged to patronize local businesses around the events. For those looking to support these initiatives, sponsorships start at $500, a small price for contributing to the continuous tapestry of local camaraderie and celebration. Full details on the events, including vendor and volunteer information, can be found on the Downtown Lawrenceville website. Updates and specifics, especially on the evolving lineup of food trucks, will be readily available on the City’s social media platforms.
