A road rage incident turned violent in Lawrenceville last week when a woman allegedly shot a man in his knee. The suspect, Yaqarah Bennett, 26, has been charged with aggravated assault, firearm possession during a crime, and second-degree child cruelty, as there was a toddler in her car at the time of the altercation, as reported FOX 5 Atlanta. Police were summoned to the intersection of West Pike Street and Old Norcross Road on Thursday, June 27, 2024 shortly after 7:40 p.m., following a report of a shooting.
Officers found the 28-year-old male victim in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the right knee. He directed them to the scene of the shooting, less than a mile east on West Pike Street near Culver Street. There, police discovered two shell casings. Using the victim's description of the shooter, which included a unique tattoo, they identified Bennett as the suspect. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the man's wounds were minor, and he was treated and released.
