Tragedy struck the community of Leesburg on Monday evening when the body of a 67-year-old man was found floating in Lake Harris, as confirmed by the Leesburg Police Department. Around 7:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a body sighted in the waters off 21 Dozier Circle, an incident that has since sparked an ongoing investigation by local authorities, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando.
While the man's identity has yet to be revealed pending notification of next of kin, officials, in a report by ClickOrlando, stated he was pronounced dead at the scene and the Leesburg detectives and Crime Scene Investigators quickly took to the task, delving into the circumstances of his death.
The medical examiner's office is conducting further examination to ascertain the cause of death. The Lake County Sheriff's Office dive team was also involved, assisting in recovering the body from the water, as FOX 35 Orlando reported.
