A recent shooting has disrupted the relative calm of a Long Beach neighborhood. On the evening of July 9, officers were called to the 700 block of East 20th Street at approximately 8:53 p.m. after reports of gunfire, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department. The response team found a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower body. His injury was determined to be non-life-threatening.
The Long Beach Fire Department was promptly on the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition. The initial phase of the investigation revealed that the victim was shot by one of the two male suspects who were in a vehicle, as per the Long Beach Police Department. After the shooting, the suspects managed to elude capture, fleeing the scene before the arrival of law enforcement. As of now, motives for the shooting remain a subject for speculation as detectives continue to piece together this violent puzzle.
"Preliminary investigation indicates two male adult suspects were in a vehicle when one discharged a firearm, striking the victim," the LBPD stated, marking an unfortunate surge in violence within this typically quieter area.
