Early this morning, a fire erupted in a 2-story Craftsman home in the Westlake district, with Los Angeles Fire Department crews responding swiftly to the scene. According to the LAFD alert, the fire was confined to the attic of the vacant 1910 property located at 425 N Lake St. Firefighters orchestrated a strategic assault, ventilating the roof and extinguishing the blaze inside the 1,872-square-foot structure.
The incident, recorded as INC#0199, was reported at 03:53 AM and it required the efforts of 83 firefighters to subdue the flames within a span of 25 minutes, remarkably no adjacent buildings were affected and no personal injuries were reported. The effort entailed teamwork from multiple units including Engines 3, 6, 11, 13, 20, and 52, Trucks 3, 9, 10, 11, 20, Rescue Ambulances 20, 803, 811, and specialized squads like USAR 3 and 88, underlining the department's coordinated response to emergencies.
While the cause of the fire remains under active investigation, the LAFD has not suggested any foul play at this stage.
