Early Wednesday morning, a fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Silver Star Road and Princeton Street in Orange County. A 63-year-old man was reported to have been fatally struck by a vehicle while he was walking along the road. The man walked into the southbound lane of Princeton Street, directly in the path of an oncoming 2018 Ford Fusion, as reported by ClickOrlando.
The driver, a 42-year-old woman from Orlando, could not avoid the collision, which sadly resulted in the pedestrian's death at the scene. As the morning unfolded, authorities were to quickly work to investigate the circumstances leading up to this tragedy. Meanwhile, as reported by WFTV, all lanes of Princeton Street were closed between Mercy Drive and Silver Star Road post-crash, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Florida Highway Patrol confirmed no injuries to the driver involved. Following the incident, the traffic flow was partially restored after reopening at least one lane. Still, drivers commuting through the area experienced delays as the ongoing investigation largely affected the intersection. Local news sources, including WFTV, issued updates and urged drivers to seek alternative routes.
Details surrounding the incident remain sparse; however, Florida Highway Patrol has assured that they are continuing to delve into the myriad factors that might have led up to the collision.
