Early Sunday morning in Northwest Atlanta, a man was shot multiple times in the legs at 560 Meldrum St NW. According to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department, officers arrived on the scene around 2 a.m. to find the victim alert and conscious. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be released, reported that he was simply walking when he felt pain in his legs and realized he had been shot. He insisted that he did not catch a glimpse of a shooter. Yet, some witnesses offered a different narrative. They observed the man in a conversation with several males in a vacant lot just before the gunfire erupted. These same witnesses noted a white SUV fleeing the scene in haste post the incident.
Thus far, details of the altercation remain murky as investigators sift through the testimonials and physical evidence. The Atlanta Police Department is reaching out to the community in hopes of obtaining more information and possibly identifying the individuals involved. The importance of witness cooperation is being stressed for it's potential to shed light on the events that led up to the tragedy.
The investigation is actively ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the unraveling of this case.
