Yesterday morning, a man was shot in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, prompting a police investigation into the incident. According to the SPD Blotter, officers responded to a 911 call around 2:00 a.m. about a shooting at the intersection of 15th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 80th Street. As officers arrived, they discovered a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower back area.
Police say the victim was riding a motorcycle south of the intersection when shot. After providing immediate aid, the Seattle Fire Department transported the man to Harborview Medical Center, where he was admitted in serious condition. As of now, no suspect has been located in the shooting.
The investigation later revealed that the motorcycle the man had been operating was, in fact, reported stolen. This added layer of complication is now part of the Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives' workload as they lead the probe into the circumstances that unfolded before the shooting. No further details have been disclosed about the potential motives or suspects.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. "If anyone has information, please call the SPD Violent Crime Tip Line at (206) 233-5000, or Crime Stoppers: 1-800-222-TIPS," reported the SPD Blotter. The Seattle Police Department is continuing to gather evidence and encourages community members to contribute any relevant insights that might aid in apprehending the perpetrator responsible for the incident.
