
A Massachusetts woman with two prior drunk driving offenses is now facing her third OUI charge, along with other charges, after a crash in Tewksbury where she also reportedly assaulted a firefighter, according to Tewksbury police as reported by NBC Boston.
Susan Kapopoulos, 58, from Marlborough, was arraigned on Friday and is charged with operating under the influence of liquor, assault and battery on ambulance personnel, and several other vehicle-related offenses, this information coming from coverage by NBC Boston; these charges stem from an incident Thursday night when Kapopoulos' Honda CRV not only struck another vehicle but also a tree and a fence at around 10 Clark Road, at about 6:24 p.m. and was found without her seatbelt on, at the scene unconscious and with open bottles of alcohol in her car, she regained consciousness and became aggressive toward a firefighter which who she allegedly punched.
In a statement reinforced by Tewksbury Police Chief Ryan Columbus, the severity of the situation was highlighted, with the car slamming into the tree and fence after having nearly collided head-on with another vehicle; the aftermath was captured on camera, as reported by WHDH. Following the crash, Kapopoulos was taken to a local hospital to treat her injuries, and following her arraignment, she was released on her own recognizance on the condition that she abstains from drugs and alcohol WHDH adds, the date for her return to court has not been made clear yet.
