The Maui Police Department is actively seeking assistance in locating Mimmie "Mele" Hoffman, an 81-year-old woman reported missing from Kahului. In a Facebook post by the Maui Police Department detailed that Ms. Hoffman was last seen on Tuesday morning, July 16, but has not returned home, prompting concerns from her family.
According to the Maui Police Department's post, Ms. Hoffman, who does not posses a cellular phone, is frequently visiting the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center and Kahului Library, places she is known. Standing at a petite 4-foot-1 and weighing about 89 pounds, the elderly woman has grey hair and brown eyes. Her clothing at the time she was last seen included a white colored shirt, but there was no further description available on other clothing or footwear.
Family members have expressed concern for Ms. Hoffman's safety, stating that she is well into her eighties. Law enforcement is asking the public to assist in this search, directing that anyone with potential information on her whereabouts contact the Maui Police Department at their non-emergency number, 808-244-6400, or dial 911 in case of an emergency and reference the Maui Police Department's report number 24-020643.
