
The Maui Police Department is calling on the public for assistance in identifying a woman implicated in a burglary and the attempted arson of the Old Courthouse building at 150 South High Street in Wailuku, a situation highlighting issues of public safety and property violation in the local community. On June 28, around 5:30 p.m., the suspect reportedly broke into the building, with intentions of setting it on fire, as per accounts obtained by Maui Now.
Video surveillance captured the suspect, a female positioned at the base of a stairwell, seemingly attempting to ignite a fire, yet after numerous tries, her endeavors did not culminate in flames, instead ended in her fleeing from the scene, this according to the information released by the Hawaii News Now. The police have made the footage public via social media platforms, seeking assistance in identifying the suspect who endangers community safety through such criminal conduct.
To further the investigation, the authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact the Maui Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division at 808-244-6425. Recognizing that some individuals may wish to offer information anonymously, the option to contact Maui Crime Stoppers at 808-242-6966 is available, with the incentive of cash rewards up to $1,000 for pointers that lead to arrests or significant developments in felony cases, including the confiscation of contraband or retrieval of stolen goods.
