The D.C. government announced that the changes involve a restructure where executive and independent agencies under the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations and Infrastructure (DMOI) will now report to the City Administrator, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), and the Assistant City Administrator for Government Operations, according to the official press release.
Keith Anderson, the long-standing Deputy Mayor for Operations and Infrastructure, is leaving his position within the month, moving on to opportunities outside of District government, he's had a government career spanning over two decades and has been a prominent figure in the Bowser Administration having been an integral pillar of the administration serving not only as the Deputy Mayor but also the Interim Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Director of the Department of General Services, and Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation in various capacities. He also held the title of Director of the Department of Energy in the previous administration.
These organizational shifts are part of Mayor Bowser's continuous efforts to tighten the city's governmental operations and push for an administrative apparatus that not only runs with increased efficacy but also aligns more considerably with the concerns and needs of Washingtonians.
