Much to the anticipations of Memphis residents, the weather seems to be taking a turn over the next week, varying from scattered showers and thunderstorms to sunny skies as July comes to a close. According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, an 80 percent chance of precipitation is dampening Saturday's plans, with chances of showers and thunderstorms primarily before noon, then a smattering of the same afternoon. Residents should expect new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch.
As the weekend pushes on, a 60 percent chance lingers for thunderstorms Saturday night, before tapering off past 11 pm. The humidity, thick as molasses, rests heavily on the city with dewpoints grazing the 72°F mark. Weather calmness ensues with a gentle southeast wind expected to settle in.
Continuing through to Sunday, the probability of rain doesn't let up substantially, sticking steadfast at 70 percent. It's not until Monday that residents can glimpse a respite from the downpours, with a lesser chance of showers and thunderstorms sitting at 30 percent. In this way, the sun attempts a shy return, waving behind the clouds to herald a high near 91.
The forecast provided points towards clearer skies as the workweek commences, driving away the gloom to usher in mostly sunny conditions with temperatures that plan to scale scorching heights, peaking at 93 on Tuesday and climbing near 96 by Wednesday. Each night mirrors the day's reprieve, promising mostly clear conditions with lows nesting comfortably in the mid-70s.
It appears that only by Friday, a modest 20 percent chance of precipitation may brush the city. However, the mercury won't shy from its steady climb, aiming for a high near 95, indicating that Memphis residents should gear up for a sweltering end to the week, sun-drenched and relentless in its intensity.
