The National Weather Service in Memphis has updated their forecast for the coming week, laying out a mix of sunny skies and potential thunderstorms for the region. Temperatures today are expected to rise to a high near 93 degrees with mostly sunny conditions prevailing, said a report from the NWS. Calm winds from the east will accompany the rising temperatures in the morning.
Tonight, residents can anticipate a shift, with clouds rolling in and a low settling around 76 degrees. The east wind around 5 mph should become calm by the evening. Moving into Monday, the forecast introduces a 50 percent chance of showers and perhaps thunderstorms after 10 am, with a high approaching 90 degrees. Despite the calm winds slated to become southwest in the afternoon, new rainfall could reach up to a quarter of an inch outside of thunderstorm activity, the NWS report detailed.
As Monday night rolls in, so does another round of potential showers and thunderstorms with a cumulative 50 percent chance of precipitation. The night might bring lows around 74 degrees with an east southeast breeze. The precipitation pattern reaches its peak on Tuesday, with an 80 percent possibility of showers and potential thunderstorms and high temperatures nearing 87 degrees. It will be paired with a south southwest wind blowing at 5 to 10 mph, and new rainfall amounts could measure between a quarter and a half of an inch.
Forecast information suggests a slight reduce in rain potential midweek, but the chance of showers and thunderstorms persists. Wednesday offers a 30 percent chance of rain, primarily after 1 pm, despite the predominate sunny skies and a high near 86 degrees. Calmer conditions will prevail in the evening as partly cloudy skies deliver a low around 70, the wind turning north northwest and easing off. Thursday through Saturday appears to return to sunnier prospects with highs ranging from 89 to 95 degrees and minimal chances of rain until a slight 20 percent on Saturday.
